CITYCENTER -- Parents might encourage their children to bring home As on their score cards growing up, but , for the excellently inclined, it's really Hs that they lust after the most.

But for the District's style-savvy, the arrival of the French luxury brand's newest boutique of CityCenter last week was far an increased news than any playoff actions.

Hermes brought its signature 'savoir faire' of style and showmanship returning to Washington for the occasion, with Wednesday's vVIP celebration broken down into individuals who parts.

Guests began the night inside an intimate tour of the sparkling latest store, which anchors a prime turn off of Palmer Alley. The gleeful invitees, naturally, arrived dressed within nines in various displays of Hermes accessories and accoutrements. Scarves, devices, hats, and briefcases were the well represented.

And let's remember about the bags. Birkins, Birkins, extended Birkins! So named after famed protean actor Jane Birkin, the handmade material handbags, which can easily run into those six figures (that is after name moves to the top of a lengthy loitering list), hung prominently from the body of many a proud customer.

Though a sneak peek of the commerce was only just the start of the evening. Party guests were then whisked away in limousine to the nearby Andrew T. Mellon Auditorium, for a no-expense-spared an evening meal program.

Among the District's movers-and-shakers into attendance was outgoing White Home Social Secretary Jeremy Bernard, Pulitzer Prize-winning Washington Post journalist Jonathan Capehart, CityCenter's Timothy R. Lowery and Whitney Bossin Burns, Polish capitol File Editor-in-Chief Elizabeth Thorp, electoral consultant and fundraiser Kimball Stroud, and PCIA Vice President Marissa Mitrovich, among others.

Beyond a dinner composing of foie gras, golden cauliflower veloute, pea-crusted lamb loin, and a outstanding 'flower pot' dessert, those parked at the two massive communal decision were treated to a lavish, choreographed presentation with each course (assume servers in masks, gold provides, and even a live tapestry display).
